About The Coaching Program
What is the ROI of the Program?
As you implement, you’ll see your inventory decrease,
overtime spending go down, and shipments go up.
You should receive your entire investment back after you
implement the recommendations from the first session.
An additional benefit is that you’ll find more capacity
to:
-
Sell more. Incremental gross margin will flow directly to your bottom line.
-
Reduce your operating expenses. As a result of the system, you’ll know exactly where the waste is located.
During the sessions we’ll undoubtedly discuss these
issues and you’ll benefit from feedback from the other attendees, as
well as the insight you’ll develop during the program.
Attendees always achieve a payback of less than 90 days.
You’ll get to capitalize on the value of doing most of the
implementation yourself, so, you benefit from a HUGE ROI and the
improvement in your skill set.
I’m just one person.
How do I get everyone to buy in?
Achieving
buy-in is part of the program.
It’s a fact
of life that you’ll never be able to get everyone to buy in to anything.
Even if you are giving away a free trip to Hawaii, you’ll have
some people that simply won’t go.
There are
some people who are critical to the success of the Maximum Flow System,
so a significant part of your coaching is on how to make the change
smoothly, without disrupting the business, which includes obtaining
buy-in from those individuals.
We do need some fertile ground, so your chances for success will
increase if you:
- Are consistently late delivering your orders
- Are receiving complaints from customers
- Are receiving complaints from management
The Maximum
Flow Scheduling System is a
management tool. The
people on the shop floor will not be changing what they do.
However, your production leadership will be changing what they
do. Typically, it’s a small
number of people that hate the way things are going now.
They want to make a change, but don’t know what to change to.
So the change management aspect of the coaching program is
engaging in a bit of organizational judo to use that dissatisfaction to
your advantage.
About the Maximum Flow Scheduling System
I read your description, but I need more information on
how the system actually works.
I can’t answer in a paragraph, but you can have my paper, “Perfect Execution”. This goes over the key parts of the system.
Do I need software?
No. I like to use Microsoft Excel, but everything we’ll do
assumes we have no special software.
How does this work with my MRP/ERP system?
The Maximum Flow System must integrate with whatever planning system
you are using now. The system is focused on simplicity, so we’ll
work with what you have.
My company is very small / large.
Will this work for me?
The Maximum Flow System works for all sizes of organizations.
The fundamentals don’t change, just the volume of data. If you are
a large company, we’ll leverage your MRP/ERP system’s capabilities.
If you don’t have the data readily available, we can make things work
with spreadsheets and visual cues.
I have a custom shop.
I don’t make widgets.
Will it work for me?
The Maximum Flow System works for all types of organizations and is
not dependent on what you make or how you make it. The
fundamentals don’t change, just the configuration of the system.
If you are a job shop, you’ll implement a system that works for job
shops. If you’re a repetitive manufacturer, the system will have
the same elements, but will be configured differently. We will create a custom solution during the
sessions.
I have a repetitive shop.
It’s mostly assembly.
Will it work for me?
See the answer above.
How flexible is this system?
Chances are, you environment has already been covered in a previous
implementation. In fact, most environments are a hybrid that
requires a custom configuration. We’ll cover how to design your
solution in the program.
The system has been implemented in wide variety of environments:
-
Engineer to order
-
Make to stock, assemble to order
-
Make to stock
-
Machine shops
-
Assembly plants
-
Semi-process plants
I’ve got a Lean implementation going. How does this fit with the Lean approach?
The Maximum Flow System is the epitome of Lean.
In fact, as a result of your implementation, you’ll see a lot
more results from your Lean implementation.
What if it doesn't work for me?
You get your money back and you keep all the materials.
I’ve worked with a large number of different types and sizes of
organizations. The system has worked for all of them. The key to
your success is your leadership along with this simple, common sense
approach.
How much you’ll succeed (and we’ll be shooting for 100%) is dependent
on you making the implementation a priority. If this is the most
important thing you’ve got going, your team will know that. If it
falls between 9 & 10 on your list, expect proportional results.
It’s not difficult, but it does require some effort and you’ll have to
get you and your team out of the comfort zone. Part of the program
is helping you through the change management issues.
